Spring HVAC Maintenance Tips

Posted on March 31st, 2020 by Bill Stuhr

Lucky for us, the groundhog did not see his shadow this year on February 2nd, meaning we can hope for an early spring this year! The spring is a great opportunity to check on your HVAC system and make sure that it is in good shape to tackle the season ahead. After all, the last thing that you want is to scramble to get an AC repair near Palatine in the dead of summer.

Here are a handful of helpful tips to keep your HVAC system in great shape after a long winter.

Remove Any Obstructions

Visit the exterior of your system and check on your air conditioner. Is there any loose vegetation or debris that is on top of your unit? Make sure to check on this at least twice a month, as it will have a big impact on how well your air conditioner is working if there is a branch obstructing the airflow. You should also check to make sure that there is no standing vegetation at least two feet around all sides of your AC unit.

Check Your Dehumidifier

If you have a portable dehumidifier, make sure to check the model and the serial number to see if it is part of a recent recall. Many portable dehumidifiers have overheated and caused fires to start. If you find yourself needing a new dehumidifier, make sure that you check out our Aprilaire whole-house dehumidifier that has the power of 10 portable dehumidifiers and saves $189 per year in energy. This is one of our specials for May, so call us about pricing!

Schedule a Tune-Up

Calling on our experts is one of the most important parts in making sure that your HVAC system is working properly. We will be able to make a better evaluation of your system and conduct a detailed look at potential problems that are developing. This will help provide you with peace of mind as well as save you money in the future.
